- Overview:

- Function:
- Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides personal support care and related services to individuals in their home. Indiana Peaceful Residential Care is seeking qualified individuals interested in caring for and supporting individuals with cognitive, intellectual, psychological, and physical disabilities. DSP will be a daily living coach to client with instruction and supervision by House Manager. DSP will develop a relationship with clients, coach & assist them through the shift, and report all relevant communication to House Manager.
- Responsibilities:
- - Provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities based on individual plan of support. Ensures privacy, satisfaction, and dignity in support provided
- - Helps member to maintain personal hygiene and assist in ensuring a healthy, safe environment
- - Plans and prepares nutritious meals
- - Fosters positive relationships between caretakers and individuals served
- - Assists the member with ambulation as approved
- - Encourages member to become independent and coaches on daily life skills
- - Attempts to promote member’s mental alertness through involvement in activities
- - Gives emotional support to member and clear communication to member’s family
- - Observes & reports any change in the member’s mental or physical condition
- - Performs routine housekeeping tasks as relates to a safe and comfortable environment
- - Prepares visit reports and incorporates into client weekly record
- - Works with personnel of community agencies involved in the member’s care
- - Meets regularly with supervisor about member’s status and care, and participates in planning
- - Promptly reports any change in member’s condition to supervisor
- - Support occurs in the home and may include providing personal care, assistance with daily living activities, teaching/developing skills, assisting in communication and self-expression, and ultimately supporting the individual in meeting his or her own goals
- - Ability to drive and assist members in and out of a vehicle
- - Attend in-service training as required by law
- - Performs relevant duties as needed
- Workplace:
- DSPs work primarily in a home of the individual in a Indiana Peaceful Residential Care program. Work environment may be fast paced with interruptions, distractions and deadlines. DSPs need to be flexible, adaptable, creative, and communication clearly to adjust to changing needs or activities of member. Depending on the needs of member, work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs, walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions.
With reasonable accommodation, hearing, eyesight, and physical dexterity must be sufficient to perform a physical assessment of the member’s condition and to respond according to law, regulation, policy and or practice. On occasion, may be required to bend, stoop, reach and move member weighing up to 250lbs. Must be able to communicate well and clearly both orally and in writing

- Qualifications:
- - High school diploma or GED

- - Clear Tuberculosis screening

- - Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, CRMA, DSP/CDS, and CPI
- - Experience working with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities (3-5 years preferred)
- DSP II: Includes all above and completes all required trainings and coaches staff member engagement
- DSP III: Includes all above and has 3 to 5 years of industry experience

- Function:
- House Manager is responsible for operations one of Indiana Peaceful Residential Care’s in home care residential program. House Manager ensures quality services provide to client and ensuring compliance with all Indiana Peaceful Residential Care policies and legal obligations. House Manager is the direct supervisor for all Direct Support Professionals or Teams Leads in the program and provides direct service to the people living in the program.
- Responsibilities:
- - Provide quality care to program participants in an environment that promotes their privacy, dignity, freedom to make decisions, and client satisfaction
- - Support daily interactions between participants and staff to promote a culture of care, hope, safety, and empowerment.
- - Is a leader & manager to the program staff by demonstrating great accountability, integrity, strong work ethic, and care.
- - Provide coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities to staff members.
- - Assist with writing and implementing performance evaluations, warnings, and supervisions.
- - Train new staff in all areas including individual plans, personal care requirements and performance expectations.
- - Attempts to promote member’s mental alertness through involvement in activities
- - Responsible for service planning meetings for members in the program, coordinating with the guardians and case managers around the planning meetings.
- - Manage staff to ensure adequate coverage.
- - Fully understands and abides by the agency’s code of ethics and all other Indiana Peaceful Residential Care policies and procedures.
- - Fully understands all aspects of participants’ rights and is responsible for promptly reporting any evidence of abuse or violation of members.
- - Conduct and facilitate team meetings and ensure that open communication is maintained within DSP staff and address any and all concerns immediately.
- - Communicates effectively and respectfully with all members, Indiana Peaceful Residential Care team members, family members, guardians, case workers, medical providers for member, and other stakeholders.
- - Complete all necessary reports and submit to HR department in a timely manner.
- - Must maintain medications and ensure adequate supply at all times.
- - Approve and make necessary edits to employee timesheets within Payroll system
- - Transport individuals, as needed, using personal vehicle (i.e., to appointments, work, etc.)
- - Provide crisis intervention during emergency situations.
- - Ability to be patient, empathetic, and calm at all times especially in heightened situations
- - Manage & oversee documentation for permanent files to ensure compliance with the Department of Health and Human Services’ regulations and Indiana Peaceful Residential Care standards.
- - Regularly perform Quality Assurance reviews to ensure documentation is upto Indiana Peaceful Residential Care standard
